Transform your bedroom to a self-care sanctuary

Your bedroom should be a special place where you can escape, relax and recharge for the following day. We know that sleep plays an important role when it comes to our immunity. So it is vital to ensure that you get a good night’s sleep in these challenging times. If you are well-rested, you will feel better equipped to face the day.

So I have listed eight easy tips on how to create a serene, calming and healing ambience in your bedroom.

I like to keep the colour of the bedroom soft, simple and timeless. I particularly like the colours found in nature; to me, they are certainly the most calming and relaxing. Think, delicate pale blue, green and pink, which have the power to induce a sense of relaxation and calmness.

2 – DE-CLUTTER Not only would it look so much cleaner but you will sleep even better! Hide away whatever needs to be in the room but doesn’t need to be on display.

3 – FURNITURE The bed should be the focal point as you enter the bedroom. Don’t clutter the room with too much furniture. Each piece should stand out on its own.

4 – BED LINEN “You get what you pay for.” Purchase the highest bed linen that you can afford. Your bed should feel indulgent and heavenly just like that luxury hotel bed.

5 – PILLOWS Plush and overfilled pillows will emulate the most sumptuous of hotels.

6 – NIGHTSTAND Stylise your nightstand and use the drawers to hide the “not” so attractive hodgepodge items.

7 – SCENTS Light a few aromatherapy candles to balance the mind, body, and spirit. I recommend using soy or beeswax candles instead of paraffin wax to keep the air cleaner. Add some fresh flowers for fragrance and beauty.

8 – DIGITAL DEVICES The perfect sanctuary requires that you remove all digital devices from the bedroom. I know it is a tough one but at least try to reduce them.
